TAKE ONE moment and try to imagine what it would be like not to be able to use a bus, train, car or not understand how to read a bus or train timetable………well you would probably not step foot outside your door. The world would seem a very different place.
The isolation of not being able to use transport, would mean that you would not get to meet people, experience the cinema, socialise, go shopping, have a job and many other things.
The reason people do not use public transport can be for very different reasons. It could be lack of confidence, learning disabilities, brain injury, autism or they have had a bad experience and the list goes on.
Can you imagine what it would be like if having never used public transport, you suddenly can! A very different world opens up, you would then have a CHOICE of where to go, when to go and who to go with.
At Disability Travel Training we want people to have the CHOICE, the freedom and to experience all the benefits that using public transport brings.
Disability Travel Training offers a variety of packages to suit individual needs and expectations. As level 2 qualified Travel trainers and certified by the Open College Network we provide the very best training service.
Our aim is to assist those who have never used public transport or find public transport difficult to use.
WHY……can you imagine not having the ability to travel independently, whether this is for a child traveling to school, going to the shops, traveling to work, or just visiting friends? Without the ability to travel you would become isolated.
We offer a variety of packages designed to suit all individuals or for those that may need a confidence boost to step onto public transport. We have worked in the disability sector and understand the needs of complex disabilities.
What happened to the Green X code? We have a package to teach able bodied youngster the basic rules of using the transport network from emergency issues to transport behaviour.
We want to ensure that everyone has access and the ability to travel, whether you are able bodied or with a disability, we will teach you. Our assessment provides the first step as to whether we can introduce you to public transport.
